Big things happened this week last year, and this week this year!
(June 18): Yoga. Skipped the Jack’s Mannequin concert. Probably for the best.
(June 19): Airport at 4:30 AM. Trouble checking all our work stuff. I stayed optimistic. I love the mountains and oceans [in Washington state].
(June 20): [Did the cool part of my job] I didn’t even mind the rain. I forgot how freaking good the gluten free food is in the Pacific North West. Grateful today. It’s nice to eat with people again.
(June 21): Today didn’t go as planned work wise. Had amazing sheperd’s pie for lunch. Tired but grateful. The boys were amazed at my coffee acquiring skills.
(June 22): Work was weird. Best enchiladas of my entire life from a gas station and halibut for dinner. Ready to go home but dreading the loneliness. Missed out on upgrading my seat on the flight home.
(June 23): Thankful for airport shuttles. Still a struggle to get everything through security and to the gate. 40$ breakfast. Record store in an airport. So many people and a delayed flights. Got boarded and then got rewarded. Traded seats for a window in premium economy. Got to take picture out the window. Came home to chalk love notes and a welcome home party from the neighborhood kids.
(June 24): Saw Asteroid City. New favorite movie!!! I am so lonely today. Emotionally frustrated.
What a week! Thanks for letting me a voyeur into your week. I ❤️ “doing the cool part of your job.” Although my absolute favorite was coming home to the kids who made sidewalk chalk drawings to welcome you back. “Gas station food” brings back memories when I traveled to places like Kingman, AZ in the 90s. George Michael. Yes!
